When you are searching for files, Slack will search for all file types by default. You can apply a filter to this that allows you to limit the search to Posts, Snippets, Images, PDF Files or Google Docs. Simply click the drop-down box next to All File Types to present this option.

Once you’ve decided whether you are searching for Messages or Files, it’s time to type in what you want to search for. Now you’d expect this to be a simple case of typing a word that appears in the title of the document, maybe even a word that appears within the document itself if there is any form of indexing taking place. But that is not how Slack works. Slack offers even more. Before you even get to type a character into the Search box, you are presented with the following tip:
